Aaron Blabey

Aaron Blabey (born 1 January 1974) is an Australian author and illustrator of children’s books and a former actor. He is the creator of the globally popular series The Bad Guys, Pig the Pug, Thelma the Unicorn, and the graphic novel-style series Cat on the Run, including Cat on the Run in Cat of Death! (Cat on the Run #1). His work has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, and he is a #1 New York Times bestselling author.

Blabey’s series The Bad Guys has spent many weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and was adapted into an animated feature film by DreamWorks Animation in 2022, on which he served as an executive producer. Before focusing on writing and illustration, he held lead acting roles in Australian television dramedies such as The Damnation of Harvey McHugh and CrashBurn, winning an Australian Film Institute Award for the former, and he retired from performance in the mid-2000s. His award-winning picture books include Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley and The Ghost of Miss Annabel Spoon, and his books have received recognition from organizations such as the Children’s Book Council of Australia and various Australian literary and book design awards.[
