Abigail Salas Maguire

Abigail Salas Maguire is a co-author of No More Culturally Irrelevant Teaching (NOT THIS, BUT THAT), a professional resource on culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogy published by Heinemann in 2018. In the book, she and her co-authors focus on centering students’ histories and identities in the curriculum and challenging deficit-based views of Black, Indigenous, and students of color.

Maguire is an elementary educator who has taught fourth grade at Emily Dickinson Elementary School in Manhattan, where she works to provide dual-language students with authentic, relatable literature that reflects their cultures and experiences.
