Adam Fachler

Adam Fachler is an education strategist, coach, and consultant who works with PreK–12 teachers and school leaders across New York, supporting instructional planning and professional learning. A former middle school teacher, staff developer, and intern principal at a Title I middle school in the Bronx, he co-founded School in the Square, a public charter school in Washington Heights, in 2014. He is the creator of the EMPOWER framework for planning powerful instruction and is recognized as a leading expert in Thinking Maps, for which he facilitates regional certification workshops. Fachler graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and later earned a Master of Science in English Education from Lehman College.

Fachler is a coauthor of Planning Powerful Instruction, Grades 6–12: 7 Must-Make Moves to Transform How We Teach—and How Students Learn and Planning Powerful Instruction, Grades 2–5: 7 Must-Make Moves to Transform How We Teach—and How Students Learn, both published by Corwin as part of its literacy list. In addition to his book work, he has contributed companion resources and professional learning materials connected to the Planning Powerful Instruction series, focusing on topics such as questioning, dialogic feedback, and classroom dialogue.
