Aileen Hower
Aileen Hower, EdD, is an associate professor of literacy education at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, where she serves as assistant department chair and coordinates the online degree completion program and the M.Ed. in Language and Literacy, including reading and ESL specialist certifications. She earned her doctorate in Reading and Language Arts Leadership from Widener University and has extensive PK–12 experience as a middle and high school English teacher, high school reading specialist, and PK–12 literacy supervisor.
Hower is a coauthor of Now That I Think About It: Teaching Your Students to Be Reflective and Effective Learners and the ASCD Quick Reference Guide Centering ELLs in the Science of Reading, and has written various articles on language and literacy. She coordinates Millersville’s Reading/Literacy Specialist Program, which received the highest distinction from the International Literacy Association’s National Recognition program in 2025.
