Alec L. Miller, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is cofounder and Clinical Director of Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants (CBC), a treatment, training, and consultation center with offices in White Plains and Manhattan, New York, and is board certified by the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification as a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) clinician. He has served in multiple leadership roles at Montefiore, including Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychology, Director of the Adolescent Depression and Suicide Program, and Associate Director of the Psychology Internship Training Program.
Miller is internationally recognized for his work in adapting DBT for adolescents and for use in school settings. He has coauthored over 100 peer‑reviewed articles and book chapters and several influential books and curricula, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy with Suicidal Adolescents, DBT Skills Manual for Adolescents, and the school-based programs DBT Skills in Schools: Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving for Adolescents (DBT STEPS-A) and DBT Skills in Elementary Schools: Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving in Grades K–5 (DBT STEPS-E).
