Alene H. Harris is an educator, researcher, and author specializing in classroom management and relationship-based behavior management, particularly in inclusive classrooms and with students who have emotional and behavioral disorders. She is coauthor of Reclaim Your Challenging Classroom: Relationship-Based Behavior Management (Corwin, 2021), written with Justin D. Garwood, a step-by-step guide that helps teachers develop effective, relationship-centered behavior management and classroom organization strategies.
Dr. Harris has served as a Research Assistant Professor of Education at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University and as Director of Education Programs for the VaNTH Engineering Research Center, focusing on pedagogy and classroom observation in higher education settings. She holds a Ph.D. in Education and Human Development from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree in education from George Peabody College for Teachers, and brings more than 30 years of experience in classroom teaching, teacher preparation, and staff development, including developing the Ready To Teach classroom management program and publishing research on classroom management and instructional practices.
