Alexis Wiggins
Alexis Wiggins is an educator and consultant best known as the author of The Best Class You Never Taught: How Spider Web Discussion Can Turn Students into Learning Leaders (ASCD, 2017). She is the founder and director of the Cohort of Educators for Essential Learning (CEEL), an organization that brings together educators worldwide to focus on essential learning, and has developed the Spider Web Discussion approach to student-led, collaborative inquiry in the classroom.
Wiggins serves as director of teaching and learning at The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas, where she has also taught high school English and led Spider Web Discussion workshops and the CEEL Summer Symposium. Over a career spanning more than twenty years, she has worked as a middle and high school English teacher, instructional coach, consultant, and administrator in independent and international schools across the United States, Spain, the Middle East, Asia, and other countries. She has additionally written on classroom discussion, assessment, and pedagogy in venues such as Educational Leadership.
