Alicia Arce-Boardman

Alicia Arce-Boardman is a bilingual early childhood educator at Northern Parkway School in Uniondale, New York, where her work focuses on culturally sustaining language and literacy practices in the early grades. She is a coauthor of No More Culturally Irrelevant Teaching (NOT THIS, BUT THAT), which outlines strategies, tools, and practices for culturally relevant teaching alongside Mariana Souto-Manning, Carmen I. Lugo Llerena, Jessica Martell, and Abigail Salas Maguire.

Arce-Boardman is also a coauthor of Culturally Sustaining Language and Literacy Practices for Pre-K–3 Classrooms: The Children Come Full, published by Teachers College Press, which extends this work into comprehensive guidance for Pre-K–3 educators. In addition, she has contributed to scholarly work on early literacy, including coauthoring the article “La Historia de Mi Nombre: A Culturally Sustaining Early Literacy Practice” in The Reading Teacher.
