Mello is an educator with nearly 30 years of experience, having served as a classroom teacher, math specialist, district leader, coach, professor, and consultant supporting the professional learning of teachers across the United States. She is a nationally recognized math consultant, keynote speaker, and founder of Alison Mello Math Consulting, LLC, where she focuses on engaging, equitable math instruction and the Math Workshop model.
Mello is coauthor of A Teacher’s Guide to Math Workshop (Heinemann), written with Dr. Nicki Newton and Janet D. Nuzzie, which provides a step‑by‑step introduction to implementing math workshop in grades K–5. Her other coauthored works include Fluency Doesn’t Just Happen with Addition and Subtraction, Fluency Doesn’t Just Happen with Multiplication and Division (Routledge), Working with the Beaded Number Line (Didax), and Math Workshop Plus, Grades K–8 (Corwin).
