Allan G. Osborne
Allan G. Osborne Jr. is a retired principal of the Snug Harbor Community School in Quincy, Massachusetts, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Over a 34-year career in public education, he served as a special education teacher, director of special education, assistant principal, and principal, and has also taught as an adjunct professor of special education and education law at institutions including Bridgewater State University and American International University. He holds an EdD in educational leadership from Boston College, an MEd in special education from Fitchburg State College (now Fitchburg State University), and a BA in psychology from the University of Massachusetts.
Osborne is a recognized authority on special education law, having authored or coauthored numerous peer‑reviewed journal articles, monographs, and textbooks on legal and policy issues in education, with a particular focus on special education. He is the coauthor, with Charles J. Russo, of multiple texts published by Corwin, including Special Education and the Law: A Guide for Practitioners, and is a past president of the Education Law Association, which honored him with its highest recognition, the McGhehey Award, in 2008.
