Allison Behne
Allison Behne is an innovative teacher, writer, and speaker who focuses on helping educators critically examine their instructional practices through the guiding question, “What is best for my students?” She has taught students of varied ages as both a classroom teacher and an instructional coach, and she works as a writer, presenter, online seminar instructor, and developer with The Daily CAFE/Teach Daily organization, supporting teachers in literacy instruction and classroom practice. She also teaches graduate courses at Upper Iowa University, where her work includes courses centered on the Daily 5 structure and the CAFE literacy system.
Behne is the co-author, with Gail Boushey, of The CAFE Book, Expanded Second Edition: Engaging All Students in Daily Literacy Assessment and Instruction, a research-based framework that organizes reading instruction around Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, and Expanding Vocabulary. In addition, she is co-author of Prepared Classroom: Ready to Teach, Ready to Learn, and serves as the primary writer for the Teach Daily resource library, contributing practical, student-centered strategies for effective literacy teaching.
