Allison Zmuda

Allison Zmuda is an international curriculum consultant and longtime educator specializing in personalized learning, curriculum, assessment, and instructional design. She began her career as a public high school social studies teacher and department head in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, before moving into full-time consulting work with schools on multi‑year projects to design dynamic, engaging, and relevant learning experiences for students. She is co‑director of the Institute for Habits of Mind, where she works with Art Costa and Bena Kallick to help schools integrate the 16 Habits of Mind into culture and instructional practice.

Zmuda is the coauthor of numerous books on teaching and learning, including Students at the Center: Personalized Learning with Habits of Mind (with Bena Kallick), Learning Personalized: The Evolution of the Contemporary Classroom (with Greg Curtis and Diane Ullman), Breaking Free from Myths About Teaching and Learning: Innovation as an Engine for Student Success, Transforming Schools, and The Competent Classroom. She also created and curates the online community Learning Personalized, which showcases ideas and innovations in personalized learning for students, parents, and educators.
