Amy C. Laurent

Amy C. Laurent, Ph.D., OTR/L, is a developmental psychologist and registered pediatric occupational therapist whose work focuses on the education of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and related developmental disabilities. She holds graduate credentials in occupational therapy and special education, and her clinical and educational practice is guided by the SCERTS Model, differentiated instruction, and developmental theory. Laurent is in private practice and works extensively with early intervention and school teams as well as families to design educational programs and environments that support children’s engagement, self‑regulation, and social‑adaptive functioning across home, school, and community settings.

Laurent is a coauthor of The SCERTS Model: A Comprehensive Educational Approach for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, a two‑volume framework for assessment, program planning, and intervention for young children with ASD. In addition to her book work, she has coauthored journal articles on supporting emotional regulation and socioemotional development in young children with autism and frequently lectures and provides training nationally and internationally on the SCERTS Model and related therapeutic and educational interventions.
