Amy Edmondson

Amy C. Edmondson is an American scholar of leadership, teaming, and organizational learning, and the Novartis Professor of Leadership and Management at Harvard Business School. She is widely recognized for pioneering the concept of psychological safety in teams and organizations and has been ranked #1 on the Thinkers50 global list of management thinkers. Edmondson holds an AB in engineering and design, an AM in psychology, and a PhD in organizational behavior, all from Harvard University. Earlier in her career, she served as chief engineer for architect and inventor Buckminster Fuller and later as director of research at Pecos River Learning Centers, focusing on transformational change in large companies.

Edmondson is the author of multiple influential books, including Teaming: How Organizations Learn, Innovate, and Compete in the Knowledge Economy (2012), The Fearless Organization: Creating Psychological Safety in the Workplace for Learning, Innovation, and Growth (2018), and Right Kind of Wrong: The Science of Failing Well (2023). She has written more than 60–75 scholarly papers and numerous articles in leading outlets such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, and Harvard Business Review.[3
