Amy Hest

Amy Hest was born in New York City and raised on Long Island. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as a children’s librarian in the New York Public Library system and in children’s book publishing, and she later earned a master’s degree in library science. She has written more than thirty books for young readers, with many stories centered on family and intergenerational relationships.

Her books include Mr. George Baker, When Jessie Came Across the Sea, and Kiss Good Night. Her work has received major honors, including the Christopher Medal three times and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award.
