Amy McCart

Amy McCart is a research professor with the Life Span Institute and adjunct faculty in the Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas, where she also serves as director and co-director of the SWIFT Education Center, a national preK–12 research and technical assistance center focused on improving outcomes for all students, particularly students of color and those with the most extensive support needs. Her work centers on equity-based Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), inclusive education, family systems of support, and positive behavioral interventions and supports, and she leads federally funded research projects on equity leadership and MTSS implementation in high-need and urban schools.

McCart is the co-author of Leading Equity-Based MTSS for All Students, which provides tools and strategies for implementing equity-focused MTSS to improve academic, behavioral, social, and emotional outcomes for all students. She is also a co-author of Build Equity. Join Justice: A Paradigm for School Belonging and has published scholarly work on inclusive education and MTSS, including co-authored articles reconceptualizing inclusive education through MTSS frameworks.
