Andrea Forcum

Andrea Forcum is an educator, comedian, and content creator known online as Educator Andrea, and the author of They Never Taught Us That: Educator Andrea’s Guide to Teaching, Managing the Chaos, and Keeping Your Sanity (Jossey-Bass/John Wiley & Sons, 2026). She holds a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, along with master’s degrees in education and English, and has taught high school English for nine years before becoming an assistant professor of teaching and learning in the College of Education at Indiana State University.

Forcum’s classroom and research experience focus on supporting new teachers, including the impact of stress on first-year teachers’ relationships with students. Beyond her university role, she performs stand-up comedy and creates widely viewed sketches about the realities of teaching, sharing them with a social media audience of more than one million followers under the handle @EducatorAndrea. She also hosts educator-focused podcasts such as How to Survive the Classroom and Those Who Can’t Do, blending humor and practical advice for teachers at all stages of their careers.
