Angela Ackerman
Angela Ackerman is a Canadian writing coach, international speaker, and bestselling author known for her craft guides for fiction writers, including The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Character Expression (Second Edition). She is the co-founder of Writers Helping Writers® and One Stop for Writers®, online resources that provide tools, thesaurus-style guides, and education to help storytellers master emotion, characterization, and description. Ackerman lives in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada, in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.
Together with her longtime collaborator Becca Puglisi, Ackerman has co‑authored a multi‑volume “Description Thesaurus” series for writers, including titles such as The Emotion Thesaurus, The Emotional Wound Thesaurus, and setting-focused and conflict-focused thesauri, which collectively have sold over one million copies and been translated into multiple languages. Her guides are used by novelists, screenwriters, editors, educators, and psychologists and are cited by US universities for their practical, list-based approach to capturing authentic emotional and behavioral detail in fiction.
