Angeline Boulley

Angeline Boulley is a Native American (Ojibwe) author and an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University and spent much of her career working in Indian education at the tribal, state, and national levels, including serving as Director of the Office of Indian Education at the U.S. Department of Education.

Her fiction centers on her Ojibwe community in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and she gained broader recognition through the We Need Diverse Books Mentorship Program before becoming a full-time author. Boulley’s acclaimed debut novel, Firekeeper’s Daughter (2021), is a New York Times bestseller and has received multiple honors, and she later returned to that world with the high-stakes mystery Warrior Girl Unearthed.
