Anna-Marie McLemore

Anna-Marie McLemore is a Mexican-American, queer, Latine, nonbinary author of young adult fiction whose work often blends magical realism with contemporary themes. They were born in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California and grew up in a Mexican-American family, a background that deeply informs their storytelling. Their debut novel, The Weight of Feathers (2015), was a finalist for the William C. Morris Debut Award and a YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults selection. McLemore’s subsequent books include When the Moon Was Ours (winner of the James Tiptree Jr. Award and a Stonewall Honor book, also longlisted for the National Book Award in Young People’s Literature), Wild Beauty, Blanca & Roja, Dark and Deepest Red, The Mirror Season, Lakelore, and Self-Made Boys: A Great Gatsby Remix. They also co-authored the novel Miss Meteor with Tehlor Kay Mejia and, with their spouse Elliott McLemore, the YA fantasy Venom & Vow.
