Anne Collins

Anne M. Collins is a professor of mathematics and education and serves as the Director of Mathematics Programs and the Center for Mathematics Achievement at Lesley University. She has taught mathematics for decades across K–12, undergraduate, and graduate levels and works extensively with preservice and in-service teachers to deepen their pedagogical content knowledge in mathematics. Collins has been active in the broader mathematics education community, including serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and as past president of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in New England and the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Massachusetts. She was inducted into the Massachusetts Mathematics Educators Hall of Fame in 2005 and received the ETA/Cuisenaire Distinguished Service Award in 2011.

Collins is the coauthor of Accessible Algebra: 30 Modules to Promote Algebraic Reasoning, Grades 7–10, with Steven Benson, a collection of classroom-tested lessons designed to develop students’ algebraic reasoning and address common misconceptions. She has also coauthored other works on mathematics teaching and learning, including The Xs and Whys of Algebra: Key Ideas and Common Misconceptions and **Zeroing in on Number and Operations, Grades 7
