Annie M. Moses

Annie M. Moses is an early childhood and literacy scholar whose work focuses on early literacy development, media, and early childhood education. She has conducted research on topics such as the influence of educational television on young children’s literacy and socio-emotional development, and the use of educational media to support language and literacy learning for preschool deaf children. Her research has appeared in venues including the Journal of Early Childhood Literacy, Journal of Children and Media, Journal of Literacy Research, and Young Children.

Moses is co-author of several influential books on early literacy, including Literacy and the Youngest Learner: Best Practices for Educators of Children from Birth to 5, Beyond Bedtime Stories: A Parent’s Guide to Promoting Reading, Writing, and Other Literacy Skills from Birth to 5, and Reading and Writing Informational Text in the Primary Grades: Research-Based Practices. Earlier in her career she was a graduate student and later a doctoral candidate in educational psychology at Michigan State University, where her work centered on early literacy, early childhood development, and educational television. She has also been described as an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood/Teacher Education in the Department of Education and Allied Studies at John Carroll University.
