Annie Ward is an educational leader and literacy specialist who co‑authored From Striving to Thriving: How to Grow Confident, Capable Readers and Intervention Reinvention with Stephanie Harvey. She has served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Mamaroneck Public Schools in Westchester County, New York, and previously worked as a Local Instructional Superintendent for the New York City Department of Education and Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction for the Ridgewood, New Jersey, Public Schools.
Before moving into district leadership, Ward was a middle school English teacher, where her passion for children’s literature was influenced by early read‑alouds and mentorship from librarian Heddie Kent at the Lincoln, Massachusetts, public library. In her co‑authored works, Ward focuses on asset‑based, assessment‑informed reading instruction that helps “striving” readers become “thriving” readers through access to engaging books, expert teaching, and personalized support.
