Anoara Mughal

Anoara Mughal is a UK-based primary teacher, school leader, and metacognition specialist with around 15–20 years of classroom experience, including extensive work in Year 6 and leadership roles across multiple schools. She is the author of Think!: Metacognition-powered Primary Teaching (Corwin/SAGE, 2021), a practical guide to embedding metacognitive strategies in primary classrooms, and is due to publish a second book, Metacognitive Teaching, in 2026.

Mughal has led areas such as English, curriculum, CPD, Pupil Premium, attendance and punctuality, remote learning, and metacognition across several schools, and she has implemented metacognitive approaches in at least two settings. She provides consultancy and training on metacognition to schools and educational organisations, speaks at education conferences, and contributes articles to professional outlets including TES, TeachWire, The Headteacher, and The Chartered College of Teaching. She is a founding fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, has completed the NPQH headship qualification, and is active in professional networks such as WomenEd London and Healthy Toolkit, reflecting her interest in leadership, teacher wellbeing, and educational equity.
