Anthony P. Mannarino

Anthony P. Mannarino, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and internationally recognized expert in child traumatic stress and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT). He serves as Director of the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and is Professor of Psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine. In 2021 he was named Chair of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute at Allegheny Health Network, having previously been vice chair of the institute.

Mannarino is a co‑developer of TF‑CBT and has conducted extensive, federally funded research on the clinical course of traumatic stress symptoms in children and on effective treatments for traumatized children and their families, with support from agencies including the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect and the National Institute of Mental Health. He is co‑author of Treating Trauma and Traumatic Grief in Children and Adolescents and Trauma‑Focused CBT for Children and Adolescents: Treatment Applications, and has received honors such as the Betty Elmer Outstanding Professional Award, APSAC Outstanding Article Award, and SAMHSA Model Program Award, as well as the Legacy Award from the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association.[2
