Ariel Burger

Ariel Burger is an author, rabbi, teacher, and artist whose work focuses on education, spirituality, the arts, and strategies for social change. He is the author of Witness: Lessons from Elie Wiesel’s Classroom, which won the National Jewish Book Award, and he is also the founding director and senior scholar of the Witness Institute.

Burger received his PhD in Jewish Studies and Conflict Resolution under Elie Wiesel and was ordained as an Orthodox rabbi. He served as Wiesel’s Teaching Fellow from 2003 to 2008 and later directed education initiatives at Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston; he lives outside Boston with his family.
