Arlene Raphael

Arlene Raphael, M.S., is a special-education professional and Certified Positive Discipline Trainer. For more than 35 years, she has provided services to children on the autism spectrum and others with significant special needs, teaching in classroom and clinical settings, training educators, and working with families through parent education and consultation.

Raphael has taught Positive Discipline courses for parents and teachers of children with special needs. She has also served as an adjunct instructor in Special Education at Portland State University, where she supervised student teachers and contributed to curricula for teacher candidates working with students with significant disabilities. She is a co-author, with Jane Nelsen and Steven Foster, of Positive Discipline for Children with Special Needs: Raising and Teaching All Children to Become Resilient, Responsible, and Respectful.
