Arlène Elizabeth Casimir

Arlène Elizabeth Casimir is a Brooklyn-based activist, educator, herbalist, healer, and writer who specializes in culturally sustaining and trauma-responsive teaching practices. She is the co-author of Trauma-Responsive Pedagogy: Teaching for Healing and Transformation, an actionable guide for K–8 educators that explores research and practice around trauma-responsive education and offers inclusive frameworks for creating classrooms that support healing and wellness for both students and adults.

Casimir has taught elementary and middle school in New York City and New Orleans, experiences that informed her focus on culturally relevant pedagogy, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed approaches. She has designed and implemented healing-centered curricula, including work with students in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Casimir is the CEO and founder of Reveye, LLC, an educational consultancy and “awakening collaborative,” and teaches K–8 while studying Clinical Psychology and Education with a concentration in Spirituality Mind Body at Teachers College, Columbia University.
