Arree Chung

Arree Chung is a Chinese American author, illustrator, and creative entrepreneur best known for the picture book Mixed: A Colorful Story, which uses color to explore themes of diversity and inclusion. He is also the author-illustrator of the Ninja! picture book series, including Ninja!, Ninja! Attack of the Clan, and Ninja Claus!, as well as the picture book Out! and the graphic novel Don’t Cause Trouble. A former Pixar production scheduler and Disney artist, Chung studied illustration at Art Center College of Design after earlier work in management consulting and the games industry as a designer and art director.

Chung is the founder of Storyteller Academy, which trains aspiring children’s authors and illustrators, and Creativity School, an online art program for kids. His books have received starred reviews from publications such as Kirkus Reviews and School Library Journal, and Mixed has won awards including the UK’s Federation of Children’s Book Groups award. He lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.
