A. S. King

A.S. King (Amy Sarig King) is an American author of young adult and middle grade fiction, widely regarded as one of the leading contemporary YA writers. She has written over a dozen books for young readers, including critically acclaimed novels such as Please Ignore Vera Dietz (a Michael L. Printz Honor Book), Ask the Passengers (winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize), and Dig, which won the Michael L. Printz Award and was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. King is the editor of the YA short story anthology The Collectors: Stories, published by Dutton in 2023. She is the only two-time winner of the Michael L. Printz Award and has received both the Margaret A. Edwards Award and the ALAN Award for her lasting contributions to young adult literature.

Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, King lived for more than a decade in Ireland, where she combined teaching adult literacy with running a self-sufficient farm while developing her writing. Under the name Amy Sarig King, she also writes middle grade novels, including Me and Marvin Gardens, The Year We Fell from Space, and Attack of the Black Rectangles, which has been recognized for its focus on intellectual freedom.
