Avery Corman

Avery Corman (born November 28, 1935, in the Bronx, New York) is an American novelist and writer whose work spans adult fiction, memoir, and children’s literature. He is best known for novels such as Kramer vs. Kramer and Oh, God!, both adapted into successful films, and for his memoir My Old Neighborhood Remembered, which recalls his childhood in the Bronx of the 1940s and 1950s.

In addition to his adult works, Corman is the author of the children’s picture book Bark in the Park! Poems for Dog Lovers, a 2019 collection of short, playful poems about different dog breeds, illustrated by Hyewon Yum. The book marked his picture‑book debut and showcases his compact, rhythmic verse celebrating 38 kinds of dogs encountered on a walk through the city to the park.
