Barbara Ann Swartz
Barbara Ann Swartz is an associate professor of mathematics whose work focuses on mathematics education, effective teacher preparation, and teacher learning. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Virginia, an M.A. in Secondary Education from Lehigh University, and a B.A. in Political Science from Lehigh University. Her professional experience includes roles as a mathematics teacher at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, a research assistant in teaching and learning at the University of Virginia, and faculty positions at McDaniel College and West Chester University.
Swartz is a coauthor of Classroom-Ready Rich Math Tasks, Grades 2–3: Engaging Students in Doing Math, part of the Corwin Mathematics Series. In this work, she collaborates with other mathematics educators to design and share rich, standards-aligned tasks that support students’ active engagement in mathematics and teachers’ implementation of high-quality math instruction.
