Barbara C. Unell

Barbara C. Unell is an author, journalist, educator, and social entrepreneur whose work focuses on parenting, character development, and family health. A 1973 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in journalism and psychology, she co-founded TWINS magazine and Kansas City Parent. She also co-founded the “Kindness Is Contagious…Catch It!” character-education program and the nonprofit Back in the Swing USA.

Unell has co-authored numerous books, including How to Discipline Your Six to Twelve Year Old . . . Without Losing Your Mind, Discipline Without Shouting or Spanking, 20 Teachable Virtues, and Uncle Dan’s Report Card, which explores character development through the discovery of a 1914 school-and-home report card.
