Ben Boyington

Ben Boyington is a high school English teacher and media educator who focuses on critical media literacy, student agency, and empowerment. He teaches media, English, film, and history at both the high school and college levels and holds an M.Ed. degree. Boyington serves as vice president of the Action Coalition for Media Education, is coordinator of the Global Critical Media Literacy Project, and sits on the board of the Media Freedom Foundation.

Boyington is a coauthor of The Media and Me: A Guide to Critical Media Literacy for Young People, published in 2022, which introduces young readers to tools for critically engaging with contemporary media. His research on 1:1 technology initiatives in secondary education appears in the chapter “Digital divides, devices, and destinations for 1:1 technology initiatives for U.S. secondary education” in the volume Media Education for a Digital Generation (Routledge, 2016).
