Berit Gordon is an education author, consultant, and literacy coach whose work focuses on helping teachers increase their impact and joy in the classroom. She is the author of The Joyful Teacher: Strategies for Becoming the Teacher Every Student Deserves and The New Teacher Handbook: 110 Strategies to Problem-Solve the Hard Parts of Teaching, as well as No More Fake Reading: Merging the Classics With Independent Reading to Create Joyful, Lifelong Readers.
Gordon has many years of experience teaching in New York City high schools and in the Dominican Republic, and has served as both a graduate and former instructor at Teachers College, Columbia University. She currently works as a literacy consultant and coach for schools across the United States and Canada, supporting teachers in grades 3–12 as they develop lifelong readers and writers. She lives with her family in Maplewood, New Jersey.
