Beth Anderson

Beth Anderson is a former teacher and an award-winning author of narrative nonfiction and historical fiction picture books for children. She has written more than ten picture books, including Thomas Jefferson’s Battle for Science: Bias, Truth, and a Mighty Moose!, Revolutionary Prudence Wright: Leading the Minute Women in the Fight for Independence, Tad Lincoln’s Restless Wriggle: Pandemonium and Patience in the President’s House, “Smelly” Kelly and His Super Senses: How James Kelly’s Nose Saved the New York City Subway, Lizzie Demands a Seat: Elizabeth Jennings Fights for Streetcar Rights, Cloaked in Courage: Uncovering Deborah Sampson, Patriot Soldier, Franz’s Phantasmagorical Machine, and her debut picture book An Inconvenient Alphabet: Ben Franklin & Noah Webster’s Spelling Revolution.

Anderson taught English language learners for more than twenty years, an experience that strongly shaped her focus on engaging, curriculum-connected books for young readers. Born and raised in Illinois, she now lives in Loveland, Colorado, where she continues to “combine her love of writing with the joys of discovery and learning” in her work for children.
