Beth Walsh-Moorman

Beth Walsh-Moorman is a literacy specialist at the ESC of the Western Reserve in Northeast Ohio and a former assistant professor of literacy at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. She has more than 25 years of teaching experience in secondary and higher education, including 20 years as a high school English teacher and service as literacy specialist and English department chair at Notre Dame Cathedral Latin School in Chardon, Ohio. Her work focuses on adolescent literacy, new literacies, multimodal composition, disciplinary literacy, and digital source evaluation, and she has edited the Ohio Journal of English Language Arts.

Walsh-Moorman is coauthor, with Kristine E. Pytash, of Digital Source Evaluation: Guiding Secondary Students in a Deepfake World (NCTE, 2024), which offers research-based instructional approaches to help students critically evaluate online information. She has also published peer-reviewed articles on digital source evaluation and literacy, including “Guiding Their Thinking: A Formative Study of Digital Source Evaluation” in Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, “Writing Bravely: Transformed Practice Through Multimodal Composition in History and English Language Arts,” and work on grading practices and historical argumentation in the digital age.
