Bill Barnes is an educational leader and author focused on mathematics leadership, collaborative professional learning, and educator wellness. He coauthored Leading Educator Wellness: Six Critical Actions to Support All Staff with Erin Lehmann, a book that outlines six system-level actions school leaders can take to strengthen educator wellness and prevent burnout by building resilient school communities. He is also the coauthor of Mathematics Unit Planning in a PLC at Work®, High School, which provides tools and protocols for high school mathematics collaborative teams to unwrap standards, build unit calendars, and design rigorous lessons within a professional learning community framework.
Barnes’s work in mathematics leadership includes coauthoring Activating the Vision: The Four Keys of Mathematics Leadership (from Team Leaders to Teachers), which presents a framework for mathematics leaders to establish a clear vision for mathematics teaching and learning, support visionary professional learning, develop systems that activate the vision, and foster family and community engagement around mathematics education.
