Bob Lenz

Bob Lenz is an American education leader and author focused on project-based learning and school redesign. He is the CEO of PBLWorks (formerly the Buck Institute for Education), an organization that supports K–12 teachers, schools, and districts in implementing high-quality project-based learning. Lenz previously co-founded Envision Education, a charter school network in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he served as CEO and chief of innovation and helped develop a redesign model that expanded college access and retention for underserved urban students.

Recognized nationally as a leader in high school redesign, project-based learning, 21st‑century skills education, and performance assessment, Lenz has been named a Senior Deeper Learning Fellow by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. He is co-author of Project Based Learning for All: A Leader’s Guide, and author of Transforming Schools: Using Project-Based Learning, Performance Assessment, and Common Core Standards as well as the eBook This Teachable Moment: Engaging Our Kids in the Joy of Learning. Lenz holds a BA from St. Mary’s College and an MA in education from San Francisco State University.
