Bobby Herrera

Bobby Herrera is the author of The Gift of Struggle: Life-Changing Lessons About Leading, a leadership book that explores how personal and professional challenges can become sources of growth and wisdom. He is the co-founder and president (often described as CEO) of Populus Group, a staffing and HR services organization focused on helping businesses manage non-permanent and contingent workforces. A proud Army veteran, Herrera served in the U.S. Army in field artillery and frequently draws on that experience in his leadership philosophy.

Herrera grew up in a large migrant family, an experience he credits with shaping his belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to succeed and informing his advocacy for underdogs and those on the “opportunity divide.” Known for his emphasis on trust, storytelling, and building strong cultures, he is a regular speaker on leadership and organizational culture and serves on boards of national community organizations. Herrera lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Roslyn and their three children.
