Brent Duckor
Brent Duckor, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Teacher Education at San José State University and a core faculty member in the university’s Ed.D. Educational Leadership program. He earned his doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley in Quantitative Methods and Evaluation and previously taught government, economics, and history at Central Park East Secondary School in New York City.
Duckor’s research focuses on formative assessment and teachers’ use of classroom assessment, informed by his experience as a former high school teacher. He is the co-author, with Carrie Holmberg, of Mastering Formative Assessment Moves: 7 High-Leverage Practices to Advance Student Learning (ASCD, 2017), and later co-authored Feedback for Continuous Improvement in the Classroom: New Perspectives, Practices, and Possibilities (Corwin, 2023).
