Bryan Stevenson

Bryan Stevenson is an American lawyer, author, and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama. He earned his B.A. from Eastern University and both a J.D. and an M.P.P. from Harvard University, and he is a professor of law at New York University School of Law. He is best known for his memoir Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption (2014), which became a New York Times bestseller and received major honors including the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction and the NAACP Image Award.

Stevenson’s work focuses on criminal justice reform, particularly the treatment of poor and wrongly condemned people, and he has argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also the author of Solo clemencia (Adaptación para jóvenes) / Just Mercy (Adapted for Young Adults), a young adult adaptation of Just Mercy.
