Cale Birk
Cale Birk is an educator, author, and learning-experience designer from British Columbia, Canada, known for his work on school culture and collaborative professional learning. He has served as a teacher, high school principal, District Principal/Head of Innovation, and Global Director of the FIRST Education PLC Center, and has delivered a TED Talk on redesigning the experience of school as well as keynotes and workshops for educators in Canada, the United States, Asia, and Australia.
Birk is the co-author of Words on the Wall: Culturizing Your Classroom for Observable Impact with Jimmy Casas, a follow-up to Casas’s Culturize that focuses on making school culture visible through concrete classroom practices. He has also co-authored PLC 2.0: Collaborating for Impact in Today’s Schools, The PLC 2.0 Toolkit, Changing Change Using Learner-Centered Design, and Navigating Leadership Drift, all centering on the Observable Impact Model and improving teaching, leadership, and collaborative learning in schools.
