Carl Anderson

Carl Anderson is an internationally recognized expert in writing instruction for grades K–8 and a literacy consultant and writer who works with schools and districts around the world. A former elementary and middle school teacher, he has also served as a Lead Staff Developer at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University, where he provided professional development on writing workshop practices for teachers in grades K–8. He is a regular presenter at national and international conferences on the teaching of writing.

Anderson is the bestselling author of numerous books on teaching writing, including How to Become a Better Writing Teacher (with Matt Glover), A Teacher’s Guide to Mentor Texts, K–5: The Classroom Essentials Series, A Teacher’s Guide to Writing Conferences: The Classroom Essentials Series, and Teaching Fantasy Writing: Lessons That Inspire Student Engagement and Creativity, Grades K–6. His earlier influential works include How’s It Going? A Practical Guide to Conferring with Student Writers, Assessing Writers, and Strategic Writing Conferences: Smart Conversations that Move Young Writers Forward, Grades 3–6.
