Carlos Pintado
Carlos Pintado is a Cuban-American poet, playwright, essayist, and fiction writer born in Cuba in 1974 and based in Miami. He immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s and has published more than a dozen books; among his recognized works are Nine Coins/Nueve monedas, which won the Paz Prize for Poetry from the National Poetry Series, and Habitación a oscuras, which received the Sant Jordi International Poetry Prize.
His work has appeared in publications including The New York Times, World Literature Today, and Vogue, and his poems have also been adapted into musical compositions performed by classical ensembles. HaiCuba/HaiKuba: Haikus about Cuba in Spanish and English is described by his publisher as his debut work for younger readers.
