Catherine Thimmesh

Catherine Thimmesh is an award‑winning American author of nonfiction books for young readers, best known for Girls Think of Everything: Stories of Ingenious Inventions by Women. She has written numerous science‑ and history‑focused titles, including Team Moon: How 400,000 People Landed Apollo 11 on the Moon, which received the Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award, and Camp Panda: Helping Cubs Return to the Wild, a Sibert Honor book. Her work has also been recognized as a New York Times Notable Book and honored by organizations such as the International Reading Association and the Children’s Book of the Month Club.

Thimmesh holds a B.A. in art history from the University of Minnesota and previously managed an art gallery in Minneapolis and worked in children’s publishing. In addition to Girls Think of Everything, her other books include Madam President, Friends, Scaly Spotted Feathered Frilled, A Baby Like You, and Smash, Crash, Topple, Roll! The Inventive Rube Goldberg: A Life in Comics, Contraptions, and Six Simple Machines. She has lived in or around Minneapolis for most of her life and currently lives and works in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
