Cathy L. Seeley

Cathy L. Seeley is a mathematics educator, author, speaker, and consultant whose work focuses on high‑quality, equitable mathematics learning for all students. She has taught middle and high school mathematics, served as a K–12 district mathematics coordinator, and was the K–12 State Director of Mathematics for Texas, later becoming a Senior Fellow (and Senior Fellow Emeritus) at the Charles A. Dana Center at The University of Texas, where she worked on state and national policy and improvement initiatives in pre‑K–12 mathematics. Seeley is a former president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), serving from 2004 to 2006, and has spoken to educators across all 50 U.S. states and internationally.

She is the author of several influential books on math teaching and leadership, including Making Sense of Math: How to Help Every Student Become a Mathematical Thinker and Problem Solver, part of the ASCD Arias series, and Building a Math-Positive Culture: How to Support Great Math Teaching in Your School.
