Cathy Williams

Cathy Williams is a mathematics educator, author, and co-founder of youcubed, a research center at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education that promotes creative, growth-mindset approaches to mathematics teaching. She serves as youcubed’s executive director and previously worked in K–12 education as a high school mathematics teacher, AVID coordinator, department chair, district curriculum leader, and Director of K–12 Mathematics for the Vista Unified School District, where her professional development work earned a California State Golden Bell Award.

Williams is coauthor, with Jo Boaler and others, of the Mindset Mathematics: Visualizing and Investigating Big Ideas series for grades K–8, which offers low-floor, high-ceiling tasks designed to help students explore key mathematical concepts through visualization, play, and investigation. She is also coauthor of Data Minds: How Today’s Teachers Can Prepare Students for Tomorrow’s World, a book for K–8 educators that supports the integration of data literacy into everyday classroom practice.
