Chantal Francois
Dr. Chantal Francois is an associate professor in the Department of Instructional Leadership and Professional Development at Towson University’s College of Education and an award-winning scholar focused on literacy education. Her background includes twenty years in New York City public schools as a middle- and high-school English teacher, literacy coach, and assistant principal, and she has also worked as a literacy consultant with teachers and school leaders nationwide.
Francois studied at the University of Pennsylvania, Teachers College at Columbia University, and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, where she earned an Ed.M. and Ed.D. She co-authored Catching Up on Conventions: Grammar Lessons for Middle School Writers with Elisa Zonana and is also working on a book about culturally relevant and queer-inclusive literacy pedagogy with Jen McLaughlin Cahill.
