Char Ryan
Char Ryan, Ph.D., is a PBIS coach and evaluation specialist with extensive experience supporting schools in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). She has served as a Minnesota State Schoolwide Information Systems (SWIS) trainer, is a licensed psychologist, and has worked as a consultant with the Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health. Previously, Ryan was an assistant professor at Saint Cloud State University and a state PBIS coordinator at the Minnesota Department of Children, Families, and Learning, and she has presented frequently at conferences and published in journals such as Psychology in the Schools.
Ryan is coauthor of The PBIS Team Handbook: Setting Expectations and Building Positive Behavior and its revised and updated edition, practical guides that provide detailed, data-informed strategies for establishing and sustaining schoolwide PBIS at the Tier 1 level. She also coauthored the accompanying PLC/Book Study Guide for The PBIS Team Handbook, which supports professional learning communities in building positive behavior management practices.
